About

Hi there! My name is Sandra.

I’m passionate about bringing epidemiological tools and statistical methods to bear on human rights issues. My current areas of interest include the health implications of climate change and environmental degradation; public health policy, especially as applied to substance use and mental health, sexual and reproductive health, migrant health and infectious diseases; the challenges and dilemmas of humanitarian action; and the social determinants of health.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Environment from McGill University, a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I am a current Doctor of Medicine student at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver Fraser Medical Program, on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples.
